Hi you! I made my first ever “successful” Salpicao today. I am so happy about this because I know that many Filipinos consider it their comfort food. It’s really annoying that it’s sometimes too salty or too tough or too “done” when you order it at restaurants. And when it is perfect, the serving is too small or too expensive. I can’t believe I waited this long to try it out! All because it was what papa requested before he left. I have to remember not to overcrowd the pan and to be more patient in reducing the sauce.
New Dish! Salpicao by Ina
In the original recipe, they used oyster sauce but I found it weird so I replaced it with soy. I love Prime Beef‘s steak cubes for this. It really is perfect! You can cut the cubes into smaller pieces if you find them too much.
1 kilo steak cubes
Marinade (30 minutes):
6 tbsp oil
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
6 tbsp sliced garlic
10 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
5 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp brown sugar
Marinade. Saute garlic and set aside. Sear steak cubes 2 minutes on each side and additional minute per side for well done. Add the garlic, sauce and butter before removing from flame.
Sorry no photo! But I will try it out again and when I do I’ll make sure I upload a photo here.
I am not affiliated with Prime Beef.
